One of the saddest things about leaving our old office space was vacating the AIGA design gallery we had on prime Fifth Avenue real estate in New York City’s Flatiron district. But one of the best things to come out of that was our move to experimenting with online exhibitions, starting with a pretty darn exciting one hosted by Google Art Project. You know, that lil ol’ platform that lets you wander the spiral gallery of the Guggenheim or beat the crowd around the “Mona Lisa” at the Louvre.
We’re thrilled to present African American Culture and History, a collection that celebrates 20th-century African American contributions to communication design, with works plucked from AIGA’s Design Archives as well as our Design Journeys, a series of stories about the personal and professional lives of designers from traditionally under-represented groups or backgrounds.
